First Sighting: June 16th, 1964

Latest Sighting: April 11, 2014 (allegedly)

Location of Sightings: Grafton, West Virginia

Description

The Grafton Monster, as described in the 1964 sighting, is "between seven and nine feet tall" and "approximately four feet wide". A shiny, pale, seal-like skin covers the monster. Some say it is headless, but other claims state that it simply keeps its head close to its chest.

Sightings

In the evening of June 16th, 1964 a reporter by the name of Robert Cockrell was driving home from a night shift. As he drove, a large white object was caught by his headlights. It stood between the road and the riverbank. There, he saw the beast. He later came back with two friends to search the location. No tracks were seen, but an area of the grass indicated it was mashed by something heavy. A low whistling sound was also heard. On June 18th, a story of the sighting was published in Cockrell's employing newspaper, the Grafton Sentinel. Grafton then experienced a monster hunting frenzy.

The creature was also featured in a 2014 episode of Mountain Monsters, but the show isn't a very credible source in my eyes.

Theories

A correspondent of Cockrell, Gray Barker, theorized that it could be an alien of some kind. The YouTuber "Wigeon TV" has also proposed that the sighting was made up by Cockrell to sell newspapers. I personally believe the creature to be related in some way to Bigfoot or is a similar type of being. The lack of sightings since 1964 may even indicate that it was the last of it's kind.
